I live in a tiny town near a famous amusement park. I never bother to mention my town because people just look lost when I say it. They know the landmark, so why not just say I live near it?
Speaking as one from New Concord, OH (you know, in between Zanesville & Cambridge), I think Scott is on to something there. Though I’m not sure I want to claim either of those towns as my own (despite having – like most everyone from New Concord of my generation and younger – actually been born in the former).

Joseph’s cardigan should be on Wikipedia, too. It’s very notable.

I was born in Washington, and I’d never heard of Outlook until now. It’s officially a “census-designated place”, and you know what that means.
Scott Meyer’s Wikipedia page needs updating.

I get it. I grew up in and around Trenton, New Jersey, and you’d be surprised at all the tiny townships and “villes” that it’s vomited up.

Go to the east coast and say you’re from Washington. If they could correctly find the right one on a map, they assume you arrived via Conastoga wagon.
