I’m still having second thoughts about this whole arc. I know the comic has done weird stuff before, like with those mascots, but at least that story arc had 2 subplots simultaneously, with the weird stuff being limited to Gene’s subplot while Kevin and Miles had a more grounded subplot in line with how the usual style of the comic. Thus, things were more balanced out.
As cliché as it may be, I actually would have preferred the “it was all just a dream” ending here. It wouldn’t feel out of place considering how over the top the last few comics were, and multiple readers already expected that outcome.
