MAKES this one from 1952 – What would have been fun would have been re-running the strips which were running in 1918 – during the Spanish Flu global pandemic! it would have been fun to see how ordinary people during that time period were able to cope with that situation. My Dad was born in 1914 and my mother was born in 1921 – so they pretty much lived through that same time period. Seems like tey were able to keep their sense of humor, even while dealing with two World Wars, the Spanish Flu pandemic, as well as major problems caused by such health crises as smallpox and polio. Then there was the Great Depression, Dirty Thirties, a police action in Korea and the beginnings of VietNam. Seems odd that people going through all of those major upheavals were still able to keep their sense of humor – but the “modern” generation just came to a full stop and gave up! Hopefully, people are ready to work toward getting their feet back on solid ground – and the comic strips will returning to being “comic” and the “funny” papers will return to being funny!

The strip didn’t run for 90 years, but 75 years is still a respectable run.

Even compared to Jeff, I can’t say I ever really thought of Mutt as smart.
