In the Navy I was standing in line and complaining about one of the instructors only to find him standing behind me. He took me to his office and told me his justification for asking off-the-wall questions (we called them “ooolies”) during a systems checkout. I told him he was wrong and years later when I became an instructor not only did I follow my own advice, I made sure that I taught other instructors to do the same. But there were and are some who still think it’s okay to ask these ooolies.
