This is the stage my very old dog is now at.

Awww! Poor baby!

That’s why you should always wait until your humans are around so that you don’t end up in this predicament!

Exactly why we live in one-story house. We have finished basement, but puppies just stare into the abyss and wait for me to emerge.

Yet this is likely the same critter that will chase a two ton automobile. But then, you know, you have to protect your pack.

I adopted my dog at age 6. I don’t think she ever lived in a home before that had any stairs. When I go in the basement, she just patiently waits for me to come up, yet when I am upstairs she is almost never out of my sight. In the hospital where she is a therapy dog, she has mastered 4 stairs to get from one area to another. She had 3 homes before mine, but I guess no stairs. I have a one-story home with a basement.

Dogs have trouble with stairs? Admittedly, I’m a cat person, but I’ve known a lot of dog people who had stairs in their houses, and the dog had no problem with them. ???

This made me think of something I saw many years ago, an illustration of how we start out unable to walk and end up unable to walk, in stages. Couldn’t find it in a search, tho.

The poor puppy is stuck on Paws.
