Best explanation of what is “art” IMHO: If the creator of the work says it’s art, it is. I consider my work “craft”, not “art”.

It’s actually brilliant….

It may not be art, but I’m sure they can find someone willing to buy it for a high price.

Yup, that’s the state of art these days.

I don’t know anything about art, but I know what I won’t buy and hang on my wall.

Art, for art’s sake.

I guess a lot of people don’t know a lot about art. This was surely inspired by “The Treachery of Images” by Rene Magritte. His painting depicts a tobacco pipe with a caption (in French) reading, “This is not a pipe.” It was painted in 1929 near the end of the Surrealist art period.

It is art

So much art is not art. Or at least not very good art. And so many art/wine/food/movie/music critics are so full of themselves they can’t wear spandex because it doesn’t strech enough
