Just out of idle curiosity, was that before or after you hid the proposal letter sent to Lucy by her true love Eugene because you were jealous, ruining your sister’s chances for a happy life and leading her down a path of loneliness, despair, and dementia until she eventually passed away, and then you had self-serving visions where Lucy haunted you until you “read” her the letter and she “forgave” you? What about those warm and fuzzy memories, Lillian?

D’Valkurie? Was that the Bugs Bunny/Elmer Fudd production of Die Walküre? The mind boggles at the attention to detail shown in this strip!

My father used to sing opera when he worked around the house. He had a beautiful voice.

Klingon opera is more boisterous, watch out for that Bat’leth.

What the heck is D’Valkurie? Seriously, Batiuk couldn’t take two seconds to look up the actual title of the opera and how to spell it?

Opera was sex, drugs, and overly loud music; Rock and Roll.

“When I listen on the radio, I can still hear the old sets.”

You mean the Crosley with two burned-out tubes? That might explain how you mutilated the opera’s name…

That’s what was great about the radio, you had to use your imagination, not sit in front of the boob tube in a stupor .

I love opera and would go to see Met in the Park at the Camden County Park in NJ but the county stopped bringing them over twenty years ago. I have never seen a live opera performance.

Back when Texaco was a major corporation. They sponsored opera on public TV. Watched the entire Ring of the Nibelungen spread out over several days. Yes, a bit of alcohol was involved.

Every time I hear “The Ride of the Valkyries”, chills go down my spine. The first time I heard it (in 1969), the Syracuse Symphony played it as part of an all-Wagner concert. It was followed by “The Flying Dutchman Overture”. Now THAT’S music !!!

Isn’t she the same sister that Lil screwed over? I remember someone mentioning that at some point.
