My wife didn’t like the sofa we had. As if on cue, our Australian Shepard mix took several bites out of it. Probably the food I dropped when eating on it. Maybe.

I had a cat, one of my first apartments. She was scratching the cloth on stereo speakers (back when speakers almost were big as end tables) so I put paper towels sprayed with repellant taped to them. Then bought a thrift shop upholstered chair and put cat treats on it, she loved that chair and it was cheaper than a scratching post.
