I’ve noticed this recently. The last two tubes of toothpaste I’ve used are mostly air

I have literally never encountered air in a toothpaste tube. Is this an American thing?

It’s not so much that they come half-filled with air. But because of the plastic they are made of, they don’t stay squeezed quite so flat and they kind spring back somewhat inflated with outside air.

Worse is canned tuna. Sold by weight, but they include the water/oil!

And you could roll the tube up to the very end and sssqqquuueeezzzeeee that last minuscule bit out. Tried that with the new air filled tube; air puffed out past the toothpaste and then had a Heck of a time getting the last of it out of the tube. Bet I lost 3-5 brushing’s worth!

What about the air in a bag of Chips (or Crisps, as you call them)?

I’ve often wondered if they would have a longer shelf life with less air in the bag

Hmmm… don’t ever recall seeing this. He must be buying toothpaste on the black market.
