There was a professor of Medicine at the University of Edinburgh in the 1800s, David Bell, IIRC, who was even more observant. He could tell if Bub was right or left handed, the neighbourhood where he worked and what he did for a living and where he lived from various clues on his clothes or person. He astounded is patients and his students with his powers of observation. One of those students was Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle. I graduated med school at Edinburgh and not only walked the same halls as Bell and Doyle, I got to meet the Duke at graduation.
