Reminds me, in a way, what Argentina is going through these days with 100% inflation. ATM’s are now spewing out 1000 peso notes that will barely buy you anything!!!

Alex had better be careful; she looks about ready to fall off her father’s lap.

It was so sad seeing co-workers with stock options worth so much in the initial inflated phase of the company I was working for (optimized high speed internet connectivity) but they were not allowed, by their contracts, from selling until a a certain amount of time had passed. The options were worth bubkas by then.

But they make great toilet paper. Got several from my stupid days of the late 90’s believing that stock options would be my ticket to fortune!

Stock “options”? Just exactly what are my “options”? I’m thinking yes or no, but I have to assume there is more than that.

In this company, stock options are even more like lottery tickets than they usually are.

I thought Alex was doing the bookkeeping for the company? So shouldn’t she know how much they’re spending?

Rarely are they options for stock with voting rights or priority for payout when the company collapses, i.e. preferred stock. However it sounded real good to a lot of people – who became poor people unexpectedly.

Worked for a company where my VP announced the CEOs decision to give managers and directors common stock options instead of our promised cash bonuses.

He went to ‘sell’ it to me. I quietly stared at him and then reminded him that a) I was the accountant and b) i know the details of all the stock types to include preference upon sale.

Still didn’t get the cash bonus but at least he recognized i wasn’t the fool our CEO thought we all were. The CEO should have known better as i was still the accounting/finance expert when he first became CFO.
