Inspired by a trashcan and most appropriately filled with the same. Robber barons keeping a second or third residence, when affordable housing should have been built in its place. Jokes on them, I hear it sways in the wind and leaks like a sieve!
At the speeds they were driving, they wouldn’t have just received a traffic ticket and sent on their merry way… they would have been arrested for reckless driving. Their average speed would have to be 110mph, and that’s not counting for delays such as stopping for fuel and slowing down because of busy traffic.
And there are apparently plenty of unused trash cans in New York as inspiration for architecture there.

It was 2020 and probably during lockdown when little traffic. According to Google maps it is 2,775 miles and 41 hours. pearlsbs says 2816 which would be a little longer. 110 MPH sounds right.
Doesn’t sound right that the Chi Coms would let an individual maintain their private property. Or are we being fed a lot of Bull Corn about realities in China!
Pretty surprised that anyone stood up to the Chinese government and won…figured she’d be working in a slave labor factory shipping products to America .
It looks nothing like a trash can. Tall square rectangle to max out square footage, like many other uninspired nyc skyscrapers, inspired only by greed. Which is not to say that there aren’t some beautiful ones. The condos are probably gorgeous, though.
When the Citicorp Center building in New York City was planned, they wanted property owned by a church. But, the church refused to sell. So, the Citicorp building was designed to have stilts, and is partially built above the church.
I’ve never understood the China isolated-old-house thing, though I’ve seen pictures. I’ve seen similar pictures from NYC. But, in a country where “the party” controls everything (even a US President’s entire family, apparently), how is it possible that someone could hold out against major new construction like that?

I wonder how big was the two guys’ traffic ticket bill altogether.

Here is the story. They took a 2,816 mile route and averaged about 110 mph.

I’ll bet every time they were pulled over, they sang “I Can’t Drive 55.”

I saw a video that shows in a few chinese cities they had to build mass transit rail right through the middle of residential buildings.

That thing about the highway being build around that house reminded me of a Bugs Bunny cartoon.

The next skyscraper will be inspired by rats, since there are as many of them as trash cans in NYC
