Here in Texas, those are called “palmetto bugs”—nope, nope, nope. If it looks like a roach, it is a roach. Did I mention they can fly? Again, nope, nope, nope. They can also lie on their backs and pretend they’re dead by not moving for weeks. NOPE, NOPE, NOPE!

When I lived in Savannah, Georgia, I was told “Them’s palmetto bugs, honey. And some of the larger ones have been suspected of automobile theft!”
