I had a high school student in a Language Arts class I taught who was terrified of clowns. Once I took the class to the school library where one of the art students had painted a picture of a clown. She saw it and ran out into the hall. We turned the front of the picture to the wall, and she came in but sat in a far corner away from the phobia-inducing painting.
