Our first dog, Sandy, once flushed a bird out of the brush and brought it over to us. It was unharmed and it flew away when he released it. Our vet said it’s because Golden Retrievers have “soft mouths” and carry things gently. Whatever Rover is, he’s obviously a gentle soul. BTW, I love all puns that other readers have submitted—gave me a giggle this morning!
I had a dog that did just the opposite. When you threw a stick, he would bite it in half and bring back only a piece of it. This continued until he had pretty much just gooey sawdust.
