P1 (in fact all 3) — What boring, cliche, announcer speak. How bout something like — “It all comes down to this. Leo the Lion stalking final prey. All 3 Bobcats will be running. Leo from the stretch …”
“End this close”? Do they mean “end this game” or maybe “close out this game”? More awful-tasting word salad from the author!
Let’s try another AI chatbot creation:
Write a Gil Thorp comic strip at a baseball game in three panels.
Panel 1: The Gil Thorp baseball team is down by one run with two outs in the bottom of the 9th inning. The bases are loaded, and Gil’s star player, Mike, steps up to the plate.
Panel 2: The opposing team’s pitcher throws a curveball, and Mike swings and misses. The crowd groans in disappointment.
Panel 3: In the last panel, Mike steps back into the batter’s box, takes a deep breath, and says to himself, “I can do this.” The pitcher winds up and throws a fastball, and Mike hits a line drive over the center fielder’s head, clearing the bases and winning the game for Gil’s team! The crowd cheers and the players celebrate on the field.
“End this close” is strange wording in panel 3. I had to read it a few times to decipher it. Strange stance on the mound from Leo even if he is looking in for the sign. Since he is a right handed pitcher (shown in P3) his right foot would be on the pitching rubber even as he looks in for a sign. I am also not sure what the runner on second is doing. Laying a deuce? Crop dusting the area to distract the shortstop and second baseman?
The question I have is did Leo put himself in this jam or did he inherit it? And how does Marty know Leo’s bringing heat? 2 fingers? Now Rod is playing us.
I think Marty should start drinking again. (Spoiler Alert: next big tangent for Henry to fly off on) He’s completely lost the ability to broadcast . . . “end this close?” And not for nuthin’, what’s with Aquaboy’s webbed fingers in P2?
The catcher is leaning. The ump is leaning. The pitcher is leaning. And the runner on second is….dropping a deuce? And speaking of dropping, you should be dropping whatever you’re doing in order to read today’s Mopped Up Thorp.

P 3: of course he will. Milford never loses.

P-1: Henry will fire the catcher for leaning to the right.
P-2: The catcher has what appears to be an orthotic two finger device in use to give signals.
P-3: Even Leo is upset that the catcher thinks 2 fingers is a fast ball.

Catcher really hiding the signal. Everyone in the stands could probably see it. Leo looks like he ate some bad sausage,

P1 – Why does Umpire have what appear to be straps on his back? Chest protector goes UNDER his shirt or jacket.

P1- The ump can’t take his eyes off of the redhead in the first row.
P2- Leo and the catcher can’t agree on a pitch so they settle it with rock, paper, scissors.
P3- Leo should have skipped the sloppy joes.

When Marty was drinking he often saw two fingers when one was given by the catcher so he thinks two is a fastball
