I wonder what the radio signal was? Maybe a commercial?

So the photo was to scare off possible alien invaders?

These facts are out of this world! I’m 99% sure I used that joke on a previous set of facts with a space theme, but it’s still true, especially since all of these are new to me.

I’ve heard that the flag planted by Aldrin and Armstrong has been bleached white by the sun, without any atmosphere protecting it. Does this photo have anything preventing that from happening?

For those curious, by the way, the radio signal isn’t any sign of alien life. A lot of things in outer space produce radio signals, but detecting them from that distance is a major improvement in our ability to get information about the characteristics of far-out parts of the universe.

That illustration doesn’t look like a bumblebee to me. Bumblebees are mostly black.

I doubt if there are any bees 300,000 miles away. ~ Carl Sagan, bilwions and bilwions of common sense insights from the annals of The Other Side

That telescope is supposedly a million miles away from Earth. How could a bumblebee get to within 300,000 miles of it?

I’m looking for a website that has photos from the JWST. Maybe they’ll put them on APOD

Not as impressive as the James Woods telescope that can spot the difference between James Woods and Roy Scheider

300,000 miles is about 1.61 light-seconds, or 130% of the average distance between Earth and the Moon.

Hmm; maybe a star date on that picture would have been more meaningful?

The radio signal came from Vega! Discovered by Dr. Arroway no doubt!

That radio signal would be from a place about 3/4 of the way across the known universe.

Radio signals are usually caused by exploding stars, not ET DJs.
