Pretty much every corporation will tell their employees to think of them as family; they, on the other hand, think of the employees as completely disposable machinery.

“Family” is a bright, red, screaming flag when used by an employer. It means a) you will not be getting a raise, b) the company is rapidly approaching bankruptcy and c) the copy machine is probably broken from all the resumes being printed.

I’m going to put this business on a family like basis.

Whenever a boss/owner told me that, I knew trouble was on its way, and I should be looking for other employment.
