Vegas may or may not get the A’s. Fisher still has to come up with over a billion bucks to make his part of the deal happen. He will have to find someone to lend at least most of it to him.
Pete Rpse never bet against the Reds but he definitely bet on them to win. The problem was when he did not bet on them to won it sent a signal to the bookies and others that Pete did not have confidence in his team on a given night when he did not bet on them.
Also I think a bigger issue for him is that he allegedly fooled around with girls as young as 12 or 13 according to some sources though he claimed tgat he thought all of his partners were 16 or older….
I find the commercials for sports betting sites during games very disturbing. Even more disturbing is the leagues having “official betting partner of the…”. And the worst is the play-by-play guys shilling for the betting sites during lulls in the action.
OK, I vented. There’s money, and money makes the world go around, so this will never be fixed.
To everyone who is saying Pete Rose should be in the HOF. The only one keeping Pete out is Pete Rose himself. If you ask most members of the BBWAA who are the ones who vote , they almost all say they will not vote for him until he makes a heartfelt admission and apology. Not the so what style he has made. Even if his ban is lifted, he wouldn’t get enough votes to enter. I think he will eventually get in, but probably not in his lifetime.
Not one of Pete’s 4,256 hits was obtained by cheating. Can’t say that for the drug boys. And now MLB even has official betting apps. Not much hypocrisy there are on the part of the sanctimonious prigs who think they are protecting the game from something. If Pete had given a cut to Bart Giammati and Fay Vincent he’d be in.
This is an article from 2015 that speaks to the only current path for Rose to get int the hall. Once again, lifting the ban is not make it automatic that Rose gets in.
With all the betting going on today, and all of the steroid fakers in the Baseball Hall of Fame now, there isn’t any reason in my book to keep Pete from getting in.

Pete helped the Phillies win the 1980 World Series. He’s okay in my book.

Truly, you took one for the team today, Tank. Good man.

Shoeless Joe Jackson should be the one to be enshrined.

“It was 55 years ago, babe,” Rose told Alex Coffey, a female baseball writer for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

I’ve been to the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
The “Hall of Fame” is a hall within the building, with pictures of the inductees.
The museum has at least four Pete Rose displays, and they sell Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson merch in the gift shop.
So, Pete Rose is only banned from one wing of the building, and MLB makes money off his image and reputation.
Not exactly what I thought they meant by “banned from baseball” prior to going.

The hypocrisy of the MLB to continue to ban Rose while looking the other way on other things is major.

I’m with Pops. Pete’s on-field accomplishments say he belongs in HOF.

By what goofy criteria is Rose the best ballplayer ever?

Embarrassing when the Phillies had him here last year and the way he spoke to a female reporter
