The most pathetic possible defense of what someone is saying “At least it wasn’t illegal to say it”. That is what is actually meant whenever someone invokes the First Amendment – “I didn’t break the law!”
In no way whatsoever does the First Amendment guarantee either a platform or an audience. Nor does it protect against libel or slander, as a certain Orange Idiot has found to his sorrow.
The media is private industry – it is not the government. The 1st Amendment states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press…”. Notice that it says “Congress” – NOT private industry.
The 1st Amendment gives us freedom of speech; God gave us a brain to discern fact from fabrication; so it is up to the individual to nod with understanding or put on their barnyard boots for the influx of bull droppings
Extremist prevarication with “malicious intent” is becoming more prevalent, and is a prosecutable crime, with sometimes heavy damages. Maintaining a so called media organization above reproach is mandatory to prevent debilitating damages like Fox news paid out in their first case against election equipment manufacturers. Lying is expensive and is not Free Speech!
The problem with Free Speech is, who decides who is lying. It is opinion till you put your hand on the bible and take the oath, “to tell the truth the whole truth” and something measurable can be proven otherwise.
Even hate speech is freedom of speech. Not that I’m a fan of hate speech but when you start to draw the line then it is no longer free.
One problem today is that the media has learned how to manipulate speech in order to manipulate the fools that never grew beyond their public education/indoctrination.
Just you wait. Some idiot will sue for AI to be protected speech. You think human generated lies are screwing with our heads? If we don’t get control and set limits on AI interference in our society and politics, we’re in deep do do. Just imagine the havoc and how quickly some tech will, for the right amount of cash or political favor, will unleash one during campaign season. What with politics luring some of our less noble citizens.

Seriously Payne, how is the media “freezing” speech?

If a monolithic “media” is censoring Henry Payne, then why are my eyes afflicted with his nonsense?

“Free speech” means the government can’t silence you, not that anyone else is obligated to platform or even listen to what you say.
Well, unless it’s the Turkish government & you own Twitter.

That’s all FOX ‘news’ has left.

Henry, aren’t you part of the media?
Is this a cry for help because you are being repressed?
Draw 1 car for “Yes” and 2 cars for “No”
If you aren’t being oppressed and needed to submit something easy just to get a paycheck – don’t respond to this comment.

Paging governor DeSantis…

This is a very generic insult. Kind of like calling someone a boogerhead on the playground in kindergarten.

Today’s news includes FL Gov. DeSantis regulating the speech of FL colleges. Not the media. But that escaped Payne’s notice.

CNN just gave Trump an unfettered hour to spew lie after lie. In what way are the media squelching speech?
