If Marty were not sorry he would not have given Gil warning before the broadcast. Marty did not want Gil to be blindsided. I hope Gil calms down enough to apologize to Marty after showing his anger to the appropriate person — whoever wrote the Draconian budget cuts story-line.
But I do think today’s is a very fine strip, with realistic reactions even if Gil has no good reason to be mad at Marty.
On this one I’m with Marty and not Gil. If Marty didn’t find the problem it couldn’t be corrected. If Marty buried the story it wouldn’t be (I’m looking at you “real” news organizations) fixed but to continue being charitable, Gil isn’t mad at Marty, he’s mad at himself for not seeing and correcting it.
Tsk, tsk, tak. After all he’s done for Marty. Such ingratitude on Gil’s part. Sour grapes Thorp. So your kids and athletes aren’t choir boys and Girl Scouts. Deal with it. Like a paper route, it builds character. Ask Joe Friday.
Gil isn’t really mad at Marty…. He’s just mad at himself because once again, a couple of his players have done something inappropriate right under his nose
What will be interesting is whether Marty names names or maintains some semblance of journalistic integrity by telling the full, accurate story, but allow Gil and the school administration, and the legal system if appropriate, to apply discipline and due process for the offenders. Will we see the new, principled Moral Marty or dirtbag Marty, as usual on his podcast?
Marty’s sorry. He’s sorry that the scandal wasn’t bigger, this could have been his big break. And speaking of breaks, you should take a break and read today’s issue of Mopped Up Thorp.
That’s his job, Gil. The days are long gone of being a steno for everything after “Great game coach! Your thoughts?” Marty’s probably sorry he didn’t drop a dime instead and then ambush Gil with “Will those arrests affect next week’s game?”

Could the Valley Tech Team (oops, I mean you Coach Luke) be the recipient of a win over Milford by forfeit for ineligible players?
