Been there, done that. Not a good idea to take men shopping. Just buy the clothes for them when they’re not there. They don’t like the bother and don’t like change. Irving’s “Now what??” is classic :0)

That is a lot like me shopping with my mother, when I was younger. I have always hated it, and as an added bonus, I’m terrible at it. But we have to do it, and since I’m tall (and stores don’t have “tall” sections for women) we have to go and try everything on.
I would still hate it if she were here to help me, but I would know better than to ask “now what?”. And I have 3 kids who keep me from shopping very effectively.

Agreed, Crooky - my husband handles his own shopping and if I don’t like what he gets, so be it. :)

My sister-in-law once asked me what size top my husband wore and I didn’t know. I still don’t! He buys his own and so he should :)

Oh I hated hated hated hated shopping with my mother when I was a kid! Oh gakkkkkkkk! She’d get stuff that was too big for me at the time because it was on sale and by the time it fit it was out of style. We didn’t have thrift stores like Goodwill or Salvation army (or the great second hand stores I’ve found here in London Ontario like Value Village and Talize) so it was mostly K-Mart stuff. She bought me a coat I absolutely despised and the saleslady looked at me in pity for having such a mean mother.
I’m laughing at this now but at the time it wasn’t funny. As for my husband it is like pulling teeth to get him to shop for clothes for himself even in a second hand store. But I know his taste and size so I’ll just pick out stuff for him.

I hated shopping with my mom too; everything I liked, she hated and everything she liked, I hated.
As for shopping for men, my girlfriend whose hubby works thirds has the best idea; know what size he wears, go shopping without him and get clothes you know he’ll wear and will look good in.
Saves much aggrivation!!

My husband buys his own clothes at Costco. He hates trying anything on and Costco solves that problem for him nicely.

This illustrates what it’s like for the Democrats trying to get a straight answer from the Republicans about what they want in a health care reform bill.
