I’ll clarify my point from yesterday’s strip: Mom did not get a grandchild at the end of the series. She got a pregnant daughter. Sorry, but an in the womb “ack” does not a grandchild make…
The artist squandered a great idea. She could have had an extremely refreshed comic if she had allowed Cathy to discover that she was pregnant shortly after the honeymoon…
An Ack is the womb is still nowhere near as interesting as it could have been…
And Honestly? What is the percentage of couples who actually planned to get pregnant? It would have been hysterical to have a scene where 3 months after the honeymoon we have the following:
Cathy: Irving honey, I’m not feeling very good.
Irving: Is it something you ate?
Cathy: Nope.
Irving: Maybe you are catching something?
Cathy: I haven’t been around anyone lately except you.
Irving: Well, maybe you just need more sleep and exercise.
Cathy: I’m too tired to exercise and sleeping is uncomfortable… I’m up to the bathroom a few times early every morning…
Irving; Heh. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were —–
Cathy/Irving: PREGNANT!!??? (insde the womb… Ack!)
