Carrots helping you see in the dark was a British disinformation campaign during WWII! The RAF had a new airborne radar technology (to locate and shoot down the German bombers before they reached England), but they didn’t want the Germans to know about it. So they put out the story that their pilots were able to see at night because they ate an abundance of carrots!
Whether the Germans fell for it is debatable, but the idea persists. And carrots ARE good for you and contain Vitamin A, which is good for the eyes.
