    We had a rescue chihuahua that had been confined full time in a cat carrier. Our teacup cross chihuahua decided the rescue needed attention and somehow convinced her that it’s ok to get on my lap for some lovings

    You know. Really. I’m thinking a little Doug time might help. Let the puppy learn that people start out helpless and you can steal their food. You can work up from there.

    My family had a dog for awhile that was somewhat like that. Even when she’d been begging for it, if you reached down to pet her, she’d sink to the floor as if cowering in fear.

    She, however, had an excuse—it was pretty clear a previous owner had abused her. We were able to give her a much better life though. :)

    I seem to recall how the cats treated an earlier rescue. They used it for experiments. That’s not gonna help Stella.

    I was wondering if she had some cocker spaniel in her. Great dogs, kinda leaky though. Back in the day I knew someone who had one whose tail was never docked. Adorable!
