Hmm… was that the original text? Naw. Only Lynn re-writes history in her comics…

LOL! Beanie babies were the thing then. Everyone thought they’d be rich when they resold them. Now they have a great collection of stuffed animals to give to their kids to play with.

Beanie babies? Was that craze really only eleven years ago? It feels a lot longer than that!

I remember waiting in a l o n g line to get the Beanie Babies when the shipment arrived at the store. What a madhouse, everyone looking for the latest desirable beanie. The only one making money on them was the manufacturer. The ones you paid big bucks for are probably worth $1.50. Oh, well, live and learn.

I only own 2 beanie babies: an orange and white one from the University of Tennessee where my husband attended college and the one in honor of Princess Diana (someone I greatly admired when I was a child). I didn’t collect any others because nothing else meant anything to me.

And Cathy’s mother is absolutely right: if everyone owns it (whatever “it” may be), then it does cease to be a collectible.

I have only one beanie baby and it’s a cute little turkey. I put it out at Thanksgiving time. However, I bought a bunch for my two daughters for Christmases and birthdays when they were growing up. I would never have gotten any if not for them. I never ever waited in any lines to buy them.
