Charlene: You don't look like you've gained weight, Cathy. Cathy: I haven't yet, Charlene. It's pending. Charlene: Pending? Cathy: Pending fat. It's the worst kind. The calories were all eaten last Friday, but they haven't turned into anything yet....leaving me in that dangerous, delusional state where I look way thinner than I'm about to be. Charlene: What are you talking about?? Cathy: Fat doesn't show up on me until 72 hours after I've eaten something. If I eat dessert now, the pending fat from Friday will show up tomorrow... ...And new batch from today scheduled to arrive Wednesday afternoon! Things were already tight from the January fat...I have no place to put last week's fat.... ...AND IF I HAVE TO ALSO ACCOMMODATE NEW FAT FROM TODAY, I'LL GO CRAZY!! Charlene: Check, please! Cathy: I'm not overweight. I'm overbooked.

One really has to wonder about the publisher that Ms. G had if stuff like this made it into the newspapers. Today’s strip is just really bad… and Aaron is right, she is already fat.

While her “logic” is very flawed, I do feel like when I indulge a bit, it does take a couple of days to see the results in tighter clothes. But if she’s dealing with so much pending fat, then she should learn from that and eat in moderation. But that just wouldn’t be Cathy, I guess.

If Cathy’s so worried about “pending fat” then maybe she needs to quit eating out so much. Yeah, it’s delicious and convenient but it can really pack on the pounds if you do it as often as she seems to.

WW used to let folks know that the fat doesn’t show up on the scale for about 3 days after you indulge. Cathy isn’t nearly as fat as most of what I see at the local mall these days – in fact she looks downright puny in comparison.
