Cathy isn’t THAT fat… sheez, although, considering the way the skinny women in this strip are drawn, maybe she is… nonetheless, she’s lying. There is obviously some place she’s imagining wearing that swimsuit.
I can’t swim, don’t live very near water (except a river that I would never consider going in) don’t have a pool, and rarely am in the water even during the hottest parts of summer. I still have a swimsuit. I like to just wear it around the house on really hot days, and occasionally drench it to help stay cool.
Hey guys, don’t e so hard on Cathy. I for one find it refreshing to look at a comic where the people don’t resemble barbie and ken! And spinner13, cool idea….literally :)
PS its true, even if you have no idea when you’ll wear them, everyone needs swim trunks or a bathing suit (depending on gender) because eventually you’ll go on vacation or get invited to a pool/beach party and it’ll be TOO LATE to go out and buy something!
Buying a swimsuit is torture for me too and I am of average weight and build. But I need one every so often for those trips to the beach and the pool that I go to for the kids. If it were up to me, I’d never wear one.

The stores say “buy” so she does it. Most of the economy is about getting things we don’t need.

Swim for exercise? Sales Lady, look at her. She eats for exercise.

This is not limited to swimsuits! I have many pairs of shoes that I knew I would never wear, but had to have for some reason.
