Dog week was great, thanks Brian. Back to rockets, twins @ the pool and Popsicle Pete. Oh, how about building a soap box derby car.

I had to look up the pronunciation of the A with the umlaut, and it is hilarious in this context! It would sound something like “Ehrf! Ehrf!” And if you do that slight rolling of the R, it sounds very French indeed. Thanks, Brian!

One of the tricks to foreign languages is learning the sounds an animal makes. Dogs don’t “woof” or “arf” in most other languages. In German they go “wau wau”. Spanish is “guau”.

Our French Bulldog ami says “ouaf ouaf” which actually DOES put in the umlaut. Cool.

Hard to believe but French Bulldogs are now the most popular breed in the US.

In the French comics I’ve read (my sister worked there for a few years and sent them home) the dogs say “ouah” or “ouaf” in most cases. It’s pronounced somewhat close to “Wah!” or “Wahf!”
