Wow, a mom-bashing day today. Personally, my mother and I don’t understand each other a lot, but I still give her the respect that she deserves. I’m thankful for the good traits that she passed along to me, and I try to fight the bad traits that I got. Either way, we all (mothers and children alike) have our issues, and I hope that people treat me kindly even when I do or say things that they don’t like.
I love my mother but I feel so thankful not to be tied to her apron strings as tightly as Cathy is to hers! Unlike her, I’m actually allowed to go on vacation without feeling forced to be in constant contact with her or suffer a huge guilt trip laid on me in the process if I’m not!
Personally, I can relate to Cathy’s mom here. She just wants a nice, simple, old-fashioned shout-out from her daughter who’s on vacation. Is that too much to ask?
Wow! What a sad commentary on personal relationships with mothers. My mom and I were best friends ever since I was a kid. We loved to go places together and have fun together. She was my very best friend until the day she died and that was a sad day indeed.
She loved my husband and he loved her just as much as if she were his mom. Mom used to say she had three children, two by natural birth and one by marriage. (My brother hadn’t yet married)
We lived very close to each other by mutual choice and BOTH my mom and day were an everyday part of our lives. God bless them both! He certainly blessed me to have had them for parents. I miss them soooo much!

Josie – I don’t know about you but my mother is like this. She expects me to call all the time and gets personally offended if I don’t!
