Honestly, part of the whole reason the bible even exists is, in effect, because people aren’t sitting around and talking about how great God is all the time.
As for why perfect characters are discouraged in writing…it’s because they’re perfect, and can typically resolve all conflicts they face much too easily, simply, and quickly, meaning there’s not really much of a story to tell…except how great your perfect character is, and nobody likes a braggart.
