I always read the end of a book first, and also skip through to the end of most tv shows and movies, or check IMDb for the movie synopsis. How else will I know whether or not I will like it? I’m too old to waste a couple of hours on something I won’t enjoy.
I am still reading this from the start at GoComics. Whatever happened to Nora? I have a feeling it has something to do with John Gibel’s premature demise. Just curious!
My dad used to pick up a book (he favoured my brother’s Bond books) and read the first chapter. Then he’d read the last chapter so he knew how it ended. He’d then go back and read as much as his very limited down time allowed.
I think I am reaching the age where I might start doing this. I find I am not as interested in reading NEW books. I find comfort in rereading books I KNOW I like. :o) If I am going to spend several hours reading a book, I want to KNOW I will like it. And I have HUNDREDS I know I like.
Me, I’m working through a recovery from a partial retinal detachment. I was on a book, Peter David’s Knight Life, when it happened and I have 20 or so pages to finish it. :^P
I’m a whole to part learner. I generally read the first few chapters then skip to the end. If I like the ending, I go back and read the middle. Sometimes I go back to where I left off. Other times, I read the middle chapters in reverse order. If I don’t like the ending, I don’t read the middle.

Knew a guy who would read a book and rip out the ending pages. Then leave them for others to read.
