I find it kind of strange the critiques I see about the two handling their instruments. I would expect nothing less from little kids who most likely had/has no formal training. They are just outside having fun, not trying to be technically correct.
This cartoon falls flat in the Spanish version, as the word for “play” meaning amusement (jugar) is different from the one for playing an instrument (tocar.)
[sings] Oh PLAYMATE, come out and play with me And bring your dollies three. Climb up my apple tree, Look down my rain barrel Slide down my cellar door And we’ll be jolly friends forever more. It was a rainy day, She couldn’t come out to play, With tearful eyes and tender sighs I could hear her say: I’m sorry Playmate, I cannot play with you, my dolly has the flu, boo hoo boo hoo hoo hoo! Ain’t got no rain barrel, ain’t got no cellar door, but we’ll be jolly friends forever more!

And apparently they have no idea how to hold their instruments, so where are the musical notes coming from?

Consuming and creating music al fresco, or plein air, does have a certain charm. Serenade the dog.

I’m so slow!. She’s holding the flute wrong because she doesn’t know what’s right. BUT why the wrists? The wrist placement looks downright painful!

Girls should try out for the school orchestra or marching band in the autumn.
