Tax laws; 60,000+ pages and counting. Why should you get confused?

The only people who need to spend more than a half hour on taxes are people who can afford to have someone else do them.

I guess Cathy hasn’t seen the Simplified Income Tax Form. Line 1: How much did you make? Line 2: Send it in.

Runar said it best. Ours got complicated only when we became home owners.

Morning Susan No lightenup yesterday? She must be having too much fun. Hello Mom! later. Morning fellow Cathyites Billy laughed out loud at me when I called him last night. :-D

wait until you get income from a foreign investment. I spent 2 hours getting that straight.

I always do the basic tax form. It’s quick and easy. I realize I am probably missing a lot of complicated deductions, but I don’t mind paying taxes so I’m okay with that. If you stop worrying about “maximizing your refund” tax filings are really quite simple.

No wonder Cathy finally had to hire a C.P.A. to do her yearly taxes. What a mess! It seems pretty clear to me why she can’t figure out how to do her taxes on her own (can you say “completely disorganized”? How about “completely dysfunctional”?!). What disturbs me about this picture is why she can’t seem to figure it out!

Aaron and Dr. Billy: Nice switch for April Fool’s Day, guys! The both of you never cease to make me smile every day. I enjoy coming here more for you (and the rest of our “friends”, of course!) than I do the actual comic itself. :-)

Good afternoon to the both of you, lightenup, Susan, rgcviper, gmforde, Mona, lindz.coop, soonergal, notinksanymore, hendelca, summerdog, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, runar, J. Short and all the rest of the “Cathy” fanatics joining us here today. As always, good to “see” you all!

I guess none of us are surprised to see Cathy’s state of mind at tax time. I’d even go so far as to say I see an audit in her future.

GsMom!! I can’t take any credit for the switch. Aaron got me good. :-D 19 years and he’s still able to tickle my funny bone unexpectedly. We used to worry we’d grow apart but neither of us has anything to worry about. Every day is like the first day all over again.

Hello Cathy fans. I’ll let Aaron switch us back (whenever) but we’re waiting for lightenup and a couple more to check in first. BTW Aaron I miss you sooo much.

Reminder: I’m out of town the next three days. Friend Aaron is due back on Wednesday. Our folks are coming and we’ll be away all weekend. Phew, busy much? :-)

Hullo Cathy evening folks. Hope all is well.

The more the process changes, the more the results stay the same, huh, Cathy?

    Hello, everyone.

Hi everyone!! I’m sorry for missing yesterday – very unlike me. It’ll take me a day or so to catch up on the comics that I’ve been neglecting. Yesterday was my first “forget-everything-and-veg-out” day in a long, long time. I actually napped, which was nice and I feel almost rested and sane. Today the girls and I went downtown to the museums, which was great except for the hordes of people that always visit DC this time of year. I’ve forgotten how much of a pain they/we are… ;-)So good to “see” everyone! @Billy & Aaron – love your April Fools prank. You two are so cute and silly! LOL!!!

Hi Cathyites!! Every year I think I’m going to buckle down and try to do my own, and every year I just go to the accountant. I’m a “failure” but it just isn’t worth it to me.

One year our appt fell on April Fool’s Day and just to be funny, we hauled 3 huge black garbage bags (filled with crumpled newspapers) into the accountant’s office. He nearly had a heart attack, and my husband and I nearly died laughing.
