Very good subtle humor, to let the audience complete the thought. I think Carmen is happy that she doesn’t follow herd mentality.

Smiling in the first panel for no apparent reason would have not have worked.

She must just have a very neutral “resting face” I guess.

She’s smiling, so she IS!

I’m one of everybody else, and I don’t know what we’re all doing, that Carmen isn’t.

Maybe it has to do with what’s happening to the red-hair guy.
