Mom: I want nothing! Get me nothing! Save your money! Please! Promise me! Get me nothing! Nothing! NOTHING!!
Cathy: Six days to shop. 600 years of contradictions to overcome.
Yeah, and especially don’t buy Mom an iron or a new toaster. How about a nice red or white rose. Or some daffies. (Pun intended). From when I could first write and draw, I always gave my mom an “I love you” note and/or a sketch of something around our farm.
Morning Susan, lightenup and the morning crew.
hi mom!
I’ve got an appointment to keep. Very critical that I’m not late. Zzzzzzzz . . .
Well, most moms do just want time with their children, which is free. And Cathy’s mom probably just wants validation that she is right in everything. All I’ve asked my kids to do is make me a card.Good morning, Aaron, Susan and legaleagle!Hello to GsMom, Billy, KFG, rgcviper, lindz.coop, hendelca, Mona, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, gmforde and all the other Cathy nuts rolling around here today! And thus begins another fun roller coaster week! Wheeeee….
I love home made cards. Now that my children are all grown, the best is having each of them take me out to lunch or dinner and just spending time with me.
it’s a con job Cathy! Don’t fall for it. Then if mom doesn’t get anything, she gets to lay the guilt trip on you for not thinking of her. Love the eyeroll.
Our tentative plans for Mother’s Day so far: my mom will be coming over to our house for dinner where she will be getting two “Happy Mother’s Day” cards (one from us and one from Gretchen) and probably some flowers (or maybe a balloon). Then my husband will be making his special, super-secret-recipe hamburgers on the grill. Afterwards, maybe we’ll play Yahtzee or some other game she likes and then we’ll have a dessert of some sort (I may bake a home-made cake or I may let Sara Lee take over for me in that department! I don’t know. I haven’t quite decided that part yet!!!). But in the end, I’m sure a good time will be had by all! ;-)
HI AARON & DR. BILLY!!!!!
Good afternoon, to the both of you, lightenup, K.F.G., Susan, rgcviper, lindz.coop, hendelca, gmforde, Gator007, legaleagle48 and all the REST of the “Cathy” fanatics joining us here today. Good to “see” you all and I hope you’re having a good Monday so far!
I hope Cathy knows her mom better than that. If she has half a brain (well, you know) she’ll buy a little something. Aaron’s idea was good — it’s what my dad does for my mom, just because. He usually gets a red rose and a white rose. Sometimes it’s a couple of daffies, sometimes a couple of tulips. I dunno Mom’s secret but she can make fresh cut flowers last 10-14 days.
Poor LMB is lying at my feet, almost comatose. He loves soccer but he keeps forgetting he’s a little guy. Evening lindz.coop and company when you arrive.
Hi Cathyites!! I was always happy if I could lure my Mom over to my house for Mother’s Day and she was always happy to get a card and a flower. She’s been gone nearly 25 years and I am now older than she ever got, but I feel the same — and tho I have no children, I do get a little card & flower from those 4 felines who have taken over my home.

Seems to me that Cathy can’t win here. Either she feels guilty that she got her mom nothing, or her mom retorts with the gift she really DID want.
Good luck, Cathy—you’re gonna need it here!
