I love that Rover’s in a balsa airplane with a rubber band-driven propeller. I had a few of those when I was a kid back in the ’60s.

But what shall we do, when someone doesn’t end his attacks? He will not end, when we say, we love you?! You must remove such people when you want to live in peace again!!

I read the autobiography of Baron Von Richthofen. It was completed by him before he was killed and published after his death. The Red Baron and one of his close friends had a pair of dachshunds who were called Max and Moritz but I do not remember which of them was owned by the Red Baron. Max and Moritz were named after two mischievous boys in a German picture book which inspired Hans and Fritz in “The Katzenjammer Kids” and “The Captain and the Kids”.

Today’s strip reminds me of one from a few years ago:-

Red: Yay! The Red Baron shot down Snoopy!

Rover: Why “Yay!” I thought we liked Snoopy?

Red: We love Snoopy. But we Reds have to stick together.

Immediate belly laugh! I was all of a sudden back in 1968 when I was 8. I could recall those unforgettable sounds Snoppy would make. BTW, great Snoopy Brian!

Now, Snoopy had swore that he’d get that man

So he asked the Great Pumpkin for a new battle plan

He challenged the German to a real dogfight

While the Baron was laughin’, he got him in his sight

That Bloody Red Rover was in a fix

He tried everything, but he’d run out of tricks

Snoopy fired once and he fired twice

And that Bloody Red Rover went spinnin’ out of sight

Great tribute to a cartoonist who was the absolute GOAT!

OMG ! Rover shot down Snoopy The Red Baron !!

The looks on Red’s and Rover’s faces in last panel are priceless.

Celebrate the victory by quaffing down a few root beers.

I love Rover’s airplane. I must have gone through a dozen of them when I was kid. A quick stop at Amazon shows they’re still being made. “rubber band airplane kit” And there are places beside Amazon to buy them.
