This is one of those few comic strips where we are reminded that Connie, in spite of being married to a rich banker, did keep working at her job as a radiology tech.

However, it appears the gocomics colourist needs to be reminded Connie is a redhead.

As has been noted, work shouldn’t’ define you. But money is also nice to have.

I think money is mostly an irritant, something that makes us unhappy it exists. Some people feel that having more of it makes life happier, but at a certain point the more money we have the more money trouble we have. At least the Tax Man and other robbers lose interest in us when we are scraping by.

Vaguely related to the strip, but something that came up with wandering the web yesterday: “A new report shows the vast disparity in Silicon Valley: The top 1% hold a third of those assets, which don’t include homes, whereas the bottom half own a mere 1%, writes CalMatters California Divide reporter Alejandro Lazo. Just eight ultra-rich households held more cash wealth than the bottom 50% (nearly 500,000 households) in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.” https://calmatters.org/newsletters/whatmatters/2023/02/california-population-exodus-housing/

They seem older than those born beginning in year 2000 and living in parent’s basements.

For a comic artist who is supposed to write laugh out loud jokes for the newspaper FUNNY PAGES I have a feeling that Lynn Johnston must have been going through a really bad and depressing time that day!

Todays offering is showing its age. These days, hospitals are scrambling for more staff, not laying staff off.

Surprisingly, it costs a lot of money to drop out and live on a desert island if you expect to be comfortable. Better to head for the Mountains. At least you can walk home if you change your mind.

FIRST—I know there are idiots out there who actually CUT people’s medical care, but I’d rather not meet any of them.

SECOND—-About that “desert island” thing.Yosemite Sam got sick of eating nothing but coconuts, and so would you

I think she’s talking to John but he’s a dentist. Do dentists in Canada work in hospitals?

Maybe Connie is Michael’s real mother. They have the same male pattern baldness.

A desert island? I think you’d prefer a tropical island.

For 20 years I worked in Medical Records at a hospital in Seattle night shift no less. The so-called improvements they implemented altered the department resulting in the elimination of my position. I m mediate ly before and after my departure, the oder staff began retiring right and left and the younger people likewise jumped ship for better jobs elsewhere. Sucks.
