We watch the ball drop on the east coast feed and then the kiddies are off to bed. We’re not usually far behind. I can’t remember the last time I saw midnight on NYE in our time zone!
Happy New Year’s Eve to all. We will ring in the new year in our ‘traditional’ manner. Have Dad over for supper, watch TV (the only night of the year I actually watch any TV), and maybe, if everyone else is still awake, watch the ball drop (hope they actually show it this year – lousy camera work last year), toast the new year, say goodnight to everyone, then put in a couple of hours of work (start the new year on a good foot). This has been our routine for the past 20 or so years. I hope you all enjoy the evening no matter how you celebrate it (sleeping is a form of celebration).
I was up at 6 this morning to go to work. Tomorrow, I’ll take down the inside decorations. Wednesday, it’s back to work. I’ll be in bed at the usual time and hope the neighbors don’t set off (illegal) fireworks and wake up the dog.
Dunno what’s wrong, but I didn’t get my gocomics until nearly midnight — at least I got them — didn’t get them for Saturday at all, had to send a complaint for Sunday, then didn’t get them until really late today. Sigh…
We did go out to a lovely little coffee house folk concert which ended at 10:30 and everyone sat around singing in a song circle til midnight. Oh yeah, and the whole thing was preceded by a potluck — which was very nice and very good food. Altogether a very nice way to welcome in the new year.

I’ve had insomnia lately, so I’ll have no problem staying up. It’s currently 3:15am for me.

Not a bad idea in theory, but … nah.
I’ve returned from a two-day trip out of town and caught up on the recent “Cathy” comics.
HI, MOM! Happy New Year, all.
