My parents made me read the encyclopedia during summer, it was the 1960’s.

In English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

While the stories are short, they are also very descriptive.

I loved reading the dictionary as a kid. Granted, some of it was an excuse to look up “naughty” words, but still…

I had to read dictionaries as well growing up, so I didn’t have to say,“Mom, what’s that mean?”

Also a dictionary is not bad. Try thesaurus or encyclopedia.
