Today’s strip reminds me of a time when I had my Mum’s knitting needles in my hand and I turned on the radio and scratched my hand with the needles. Dad was unsympathetic and said, “Daft thing to do!”

“And then I ate the hairy newton.”

The fans my grandparents had, with gaps between the wire you could fit a hand through! They tied a ribbon on the front, so you could see clearly the fan was running. If you got hurt, it was your own fault..

ZZZZTT, a new sound effect.

OK, technically Spud couldn’t have achieved it like the cartoon shows…..

First, the fan would be pushing his hair away, not sucking it in. Next, the “cutting” edge would be angled back away from his hair.

If he had leaned into the back of the fan, maybe.

Maybe the fan story is fake because Spud is ashamed to say “I’ve tried the scissors!“

That fan has worryingly sharp blades then.

I might try this to save money at the salon!

I got a Spud cut going on right now. It’s too hot for long hair.

I go to “Dumb Luck Barbers”. Sometimes it works out. Always the cheapest. Value being relative.

I like how the word balloon goes through the hole in the last panel. I guess the little bird (?) that was there in the first panel flew away!
