I know someone who makes coffee like that, and then loads it up with creamer, chocolate and sugar, to ‘make it taste good’. I’m surprised she has any teeth left.
Years ago at work we had a guy that made coffee like that. When I’d go in the break room, and the coffee maker had finished, I would switch that pot with an empty one and hit brew again – and maybe even do that a second time. Those coffees were still STRONG.
Father told a story about the war, where he was stationed in LA before going overseas. On maneuvers or something, a kid shows up and asks if they want to buy coffee. They say yes so he says he’ll be back. Comes back with a quart jar of coffee. One guy tries a sip and it is like Peter’s. The kid laffs and says you have to dilute it with a gallon of water!! It was boiled down and down to be like that.
It’s been 30 years or so, but when I visited Perú the restaurants served coffee, yes, but it was a small cruet of concentrate left out on the table with the condiments. They’d give you a cup of hot water, like for tea, and you’d use concentrate to your taste.
Which last is absolutely the inappropriate word to use!
Pass. I make strong coffee, but it’s still liquid. I don’t want to know how anyone could get it into that condition (unless, as some above have mentioned, it’s coffee concentrate), and I have no interest in consuming it. I want my morning beverage to be drinkable.

30 years ago, my father banned me from making coffee when I visited. He likes somewhat dark, warm water. I like a strong coffee.

My father used to make coffee so strong that if you poured it on a grave, the dead would arise!

Possibly, he was too lazy to make new, and that is yesterdays, burned to the bottom.

That’s one excuse to have coffee for breakfast.

Hurry and get it while it is still hot. It really sets up when it gets cold.

I’m forbidden from making coffee. The last time I did, it crawled out of the pot and was introducing itself to people.
