I had to wake up at 4:30AM recently for my daughter’s swim meet. We were there for nine hours, in the Texas sun, and her events took a grand total of 120 seconds to finish. All that to say, I support getting there early to get a good spot otherwise all these people will set up a giant tent like they own the place. : )
I was super early to my brother’s church for Christmas Eve one year (like 2 hours). Seems my dear old dad put the shrimp out on the dining room table and one of my cats was calmly throwing the shrimp down to the other 5. I stuffed them all in the room I was staying in with food, water, litter box, and got out of there PRONTO, The church pastor asked who I was when He came into the assembly room and I told him. His response to my name was, oh, hiding from dad like the rest of your family does…

I like Dadster’s way with words. Sounds like a colorful guy.

I was always an early bird for everything. Like Amanda’s Parents, I’m there so early, everyone thought I worked there. ☺️
The rest of the family….not so much!

Sounds like a super Protestant work ethic——worked its way into punctuality!

My wife, on the other hand, has never been early for anything that I’m aware of.

Good shirt there, Dad! (Do I hear Dinah Shore in the background?)

I have the habit of being early too. Have to figure in traffic, parking etc. I also like to leave the venue a bit early for the same reason.

My family is visiting from west coast. It’s been fantastic. I’ve been running around like crazy. I’m tired, but it’s a happy tired.

I feel for Dan. I was in the same situation with my in-laws, who are lovely people and such early-risers.

I’m a slightly early to slightly late person. My spouse is early, all the way.

That would be unpleasant but not as embarrassing as the family showing up late and making a fuss over seating.. Bevvy Goldberg style. ;-p
