At a certain point on the upswing the chains slacken a little, and the jolt on the way back down is enough to discourage such lofty expectations.

We never tried to swing over the moon. We did have visions of doing a 360 around the bar, but fortunately we never came close to that.
Back when School playground swings were bigger, higher. and Steel … (DO NOT GET IN THE WAY!) used to swing high enoungh that one COULD see over the bar! …) “We” would swing high enough that the chains would go slack.
