I don’t like so much that Mr. Dear always is shown a bit as to be on the grumpy and dumber side. But as we now know that these are the early strips, drawn by Mr. Alex Graham himself, I would say they are meant as making a bit fun of himself with a big twinkle in his eyes.
This must be cricket. I decided once to read the entire Wikipedia article of the rules for cricket—I was dumbfounded at the end when I discovered myself bewilderingly none the wiser . .
Does anyone know if these are the original strips from Day One, 60 years ago? loridobson found Mr. Dear a bit bland and bored in his later years. I tend to agree. I have loved the strip, but this puts a bit of pizzazz back in! Fred himself hasn’t much changed.
Well caught Fred. Bravo old boy!!!! Just like that Somerset fielder who caught the last Essex batsman out 2 weeks ago in T20 Blast final!!! Well done Somerset and Fred!!!!

There you are from the get go playing sports. Not soccer but still. For however long this game lasts, you’re doing something. Do you play both sides?

I hope that is a plastic wiffle ball that will float if ti goes in the ocean and Fred has to swim to fetch it.

It looked like it was going to be a solid 6 until Fred managed a brilliant catch.

I’ve heard of sand volleyball and soccer, but sand cricket? I’d think the bowler would have quite a lot of difficulty getting the ball to the wicket.

Who is the artist that’s drawn Fred Basset for the past 2 days? It definitely not the original artist.
