Hilarious! I always stop if I can and encourage their efforts. Hey, selling is like shaving, if you don’t did it every day you become a bum. Ha

Note how Rover opens one eye when Red starts talking to him (he did that yesterday, too)—love the attitude!

Gracie is a Lab mix with a very sweet disposition. She’s on her own, in the her home today, because her human is off getting some tests done at the doctors. So I volunteered to walk Gracie when she needs to go out. What a 2fer. Gracie goes out side and I get the benefit of hanging with this wonderful girl.

About two weeks ago, there was a strip where Red was wearing a Davy Crockett hat and Rover objected to it. I made two comments. One was whether Rover would object to a hat made of squirrel fur and the other was a mention of Brom Bones in “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” wearing a hat made of fox fur which I saw as a symbol of Brom outfoxing a fox as he later outfoxed the devious and greedy Ichabod Crane. Someone replied, “Big, strong, angry and possibly murderous guy triumphs over bookish and nerdy schoolmaster. Great message to kids!” I replied that the story made clear that Brom truly loved Katerina whereas Ichabod was after the money and property which she would inherit so one of the real messages was of a triumph of love over greed. I also pointed out that Brom was only interested in Katerina whereas Ichabod was playing around with other women especially those who were wives and the mothers of children in his class.

Another point about “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” which has been made is that it is a triumph for country values over urban values. Ichabod was from a New England town and looked down on country people such as Brom. Some years after Ichabod disappeared, it was reported that he was now in New York City where he had become a lawyer and then a judge in a small claims court. All this identifies Ichabod with urban values whereas Brom is an obvious country boy who uses a country legend to frighten Ichabod away. Washington Irving preferred villages to towns and cities and he has been buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery for over one hundred and sixty years.

I think that’s my new motto.

“A wag of the tail could lead to a sale!”
