Fortuitously the closest thing to a dog in this strip has been a coyote.

If you can smell it, you do have kind of a “taste” of what it tastes like.

Ah yes, the nine-year-old’s logical fallacy of “If it’s on my plate and I don’t recognize it, my parents must be trying to poison me!” If my foster parents let me get away with half of Miles’ nonsense, my palates wouldn’t have grown beyond peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!

Well, I’VE tried shrimp. Now since I’ve never tasted a dog butt to compare it to, I can certainly tell the kid it tastes gross.

Like any fresh food, the closer to the source the better it tastes. I live in gulf south and have had both ends of the spectrum when traveling.
