Ah yes. The American tradition of the family road trip. I cannot count the endless hours spent in my youth in the back seat of a car, devising ways to stay amused. The license plate game, slug bug, the A,B,C game, 20 questions, I spy with my little eye, endless games of the card game War, drawing on a fogged up window, getting the truckers to honk their horn, sitting on dad’s lap and steering the car, playing “would you rather?,” etc, etc, etc…. I don’t remember chewing my arm, not that I wouldn’t have liked to at some points.
A noble effort by Mr. Peter Otterloop, pater familias and chauffeur, but (let’s face it) he is not a fun-ny man. Petey’s response is understandable, if not a Good Thing to do….

Unlike today where most all of the cars look the same, along with 4 door pickups with tiny useless beds.

I’ve always wondered how chewing his arm off affects Petey’s Picky Eater Rating… ☺

I have to wonder – did Petey make it to adulthood with both arms still attached?

I like the construction of the phrase “Are we to the beach yet?”
