I tried meditation back in the 70s. I found a 20-minute nap did me more good.
TM was for “joiners”. I lived at the epicenter of the West Coast TM movement. It had just as manyu posers, frauds and fakers as any other popular psychology fad. I especially enjoyed the way they took an uptick in “arrests” (which were due to anti-war demonstrations) as the baseline for their statistical claim that, in the following years, just having TM in the area was lowering the “crime rate”.
