Since he said that, why does people like to get dirty then?

Great practical joker, that God fella!

Its not that our planet is named after dirt, its that our dirt is named after the pla… oh, nevermind…

A lot of things are named for what you see on the outside.

According to Genesis in bible, people are kind of dirty people.

From Genesis 2:7: … the LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.

and From Genesis 3:19: … until you return to the ground — because out of it were you taken. For dust you are, and to dust you shall return.”

Could’ve been called water?

My mother used to whip me for things I was paid to do…….

That’s because God created man naked – that is without shoes, so therefore God left man on earth because God didn’t want man to traipse onto God’s clean heavenly floor with his dirty feet!

Or as we say on Ash Wednesday: ‘Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.’

Terra means dirt?

And we can rely on Ziggy, never to get earthy.

One day we may know the answer to that question

The planet isn’t named after dirt. The planet IS dirt.

Ursula K. LeGuin’s sci-fi novella The Word for World is Forest taught me that we humans named our planet after the source of our food – the natives of the novella’s setting are forest gatherers.
